Do Your Kids Help Out With Your Business?

I was watching this video on Youtube earlier giving tips on allowing kids to help out with your business.  I thought this might be an interesting topic.  Do you give your kids jobs to do?

While I think it is completely unprofessional to let my child answer business calls, I do give my kids duties every now and then.  My 12 year old is excellent on the computer, so if I'm rushed for time, I'll let him fill orders for me or do some filing, but that's usually the extent of it.

What are your thoughts about kids and business?  Do they mix?

My four children, ages 23,21,18,and 14 grew up with a mom who ran a homebased business. I tried to involve them as much as I could. Not only did they learn great "people" skills (including how to flirt with girls according to my 23 year old) but they learned the basics of running a business. My two sons have run their own landscape business the past few summers to earn money for their college and I see my daughters incorporating many skills they learned into their lives - my 18 year old daughter is an amazing "To Do" list maker! A few months ago I did a blog post where I asked my boys what they learned and liked about having a homebased mom - it was very sweet. http://www.yourhomebasedmom.com/celebrate-being-a-homebased-mom/
